Paul Guta’s enterprise, Pure Joy Agriculture (2020) Ltd, is investing in growing long-term horticulture products under irrigation using solar power and is investing in livestock management.

The drive for both activities comes from a desire to contribute towards reduction in the trade deficit numbers for country’s economy. Malawi has been a net importer for many years and Paul is disheartened that Malawi imports food which the country could be producing and even exporting.

The importation of these food items are done in large quantities, eroding the country’s meager foreign exchange reserves. The crops at Pure Joy Agriculture (2020) Ltd are among those that are being imported, yet the climatic and soil conditions in Malawi support production of such crops with a quality of output that matches, if not surpasses, the global standards.

Pure Joy Agriculture (2020) Limited contributes positively to the problem of unemployment in Malawi, while simultaneously aiding the food security and nutrition of the population. Additionally, the enterprise is on course to provide portable borehole water to the villagers neighbouring the farm, which will be beneficial as currently the villagers are drinking untreated water taken directly from Lake Malawi.
