Aubrey Lindeire and his wife founded Fisi Farm and are working to maximize its output and resources.

Fisi Farm is located at the heart of one of Lilongwe’s most populous peri-urban areas, Likuni. This farmland is part marshland and part dryland and allows for cropping throughout the year with both rainwater and irrigation, keeping the farm continuously occupied and maximizing production. Fisi Farm is designed to practice diversified animal and crop husbandry which includes some of the most commonly consumed cash crops such as bananas, water melons, soybeans and includes livestock such as rabbits, chickens, ducks, geese, turkey and fish.

Like most peri-urban communities, the area around Fisi Farm faces a range of challenges such as high school dropouts, early pregnancies, a high rate of unemployment, substance abuse, and poor nutrition.  As a fully-fledged social enterprise, Fisi Farm is playing and will continue to play an important and active role in positively contributing to the reshaping of the surrounding ecosystem within the community. The community shall continue to be engaged at various stages of production, with much of the nutritionally rich produce and the diversification in energy usage staying within the community. The following are just some of the benefits that Fisi Farm will bring about to its surrounding peri-urban communities:

1. Providing short and long term employment throughout the year to farm and administrative support.

2. Providing training and incubation to youth interested in pursuing Agri-business.

3. Providing access to and sensitization on better nutrition to the community.

4. Providing alternative urban agriculture methodologies to the community.

5. Using and modelling renewable energy for farm production and processing.
